What is Damask Paper?

Damask is an Arabic word for a reversible figured fabric of silk, wool, linen, cotton, or synthetic fibres, with a pattern formed by weaving. Damasks always looks symmetrical and can look two toned because they are woven with one warp yarn and one weft yarn, usually with the pattern in warp-faced satin weave and the ground in weft-faced or sateen weave.

This classic technique is what makes the design so very elegant, often produced in rich, strong and vibrant colours which make them so opulent and luxurious looking, so appealing to the eye. Our range of black damask papers illustrate this perfectly, it is why Damask Paper is so timeless and versatile, an extremely popular choice.
